Driving Forecast
Bad weather - such as, fog, ice, snow and high winds - can all make driving harder. Sometimes even a little rain after a long dry spell can turn an ordinary road into a skating rink so you need to be prepared for changes in the weather, which can happen at any time.

A change in the weather, especially if it's without any warning, can cause fatal collisions for even the most experienced drivers, so:

  • Listen to weather forecasts.
  • Clear your windows of all ice and snow, before you set off.
  • Use your lights.
  • Allow more time for your journey.
  • Stick to main routes.
  • Remember that you may not be able to see as clearly, so drive slower.
  • Gently does it - don't brake, steer or accelerate sharply.
  • Don't stick too close to the car in front - leave at least two or three times the normal distance in rain, snow and ice.
